Ofir Rubin

Prof. Ofir Rubin of the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business & Management (GGFBM) focuses his research on economic modeling of energy markets, management of natural resources, and the economics and environmental aspects of renewable energy. He investigates the performances of energy markets in conjunction with firms’ strategic behavior and policy regulation. In the realm of transportation, he investigates the performance of policies designed to promote energy efficiency as well as environmental and political objectives. Specific topics of interest include green taxation, alternative fuels in transportation and the impact of consumers’ response to policy regulation in terms of type of car purchased, fuel usage and implications for drivers’ risk perception and road safety. Ofir holds M.Sc. in agricultural economics and management from the Hebrew University and a PhD in economics from Iowa State University. Before joining Ben-Gurion University he was a postdoctoral researcher in the Hebrew University. His research has been published in top journals in the fields of energy and fuels and he is a recipient of several prestige research grants. Ofir teaches courses in environmental policy and natural resources management and supervises graduate students working on various aspects of energy policy and the economics of renewable energy.
